Kerry Murray is a self-taught artist originally from KwaZulu-Natal but now residing in George, the artist’s love for nature and natural rhythms has been mostly influenced by the surrounds of her childhood, having grown up in the Drakensberg. Her father also plays a strong role in terms of her work, in that he always encouraged her to be closely observant. It is through this observation that she discovered what she calls the ‘enigma’ in her work – hidden subtleties that challenge the viewer in terms of their interpretation but add underlying nuances to the work that lead the viewer deeper into the imagery on the canvas.
