I was born in 1980 in Durban, where I did my schooling and qualified as a hair stylist. After living in Johannesburg for some time, I spent the next few years working in various towns and cities across the country.  I was first introduced to the idea of clay by a sculpture while spending some time on the west coast. After taking up lessons with Leslie- Ann Hoets, I soon realized that my new hobby would find it`s way to becoming more than just weekly visits to her studio.

I eventually left my  job in Cape Town to pursue a full time career in ceramics, initially under the guidance of Anthony Shapiro where I learnt, amongst other things, how to market and sell my finished product. Upon moving to the Karoo, I opened my own studio and my focus has since been on the art of pit firing. I have been fortunate enough to participate in various exhibitions, showcasing my work throughout the country.

“ The process of borrowing clay from the Earth and surrendering it to the element of fire, is both a rewarding and humbling experience.”
