objects discarded by man. Long forgotten, they have been altered and shaped by the elements whilst lying in the Karoo veld – oxidised metals, sun-coloured glass, and dried bones. To me, these embody irresistible character, waiting to be revived into the figures and forms they evoke. I animate and assemble these objects with scrap wire in a restrained manner so as not to lose the original character.

I take great pleasure in my work, which involves frequent foraging missions, rust-stained clothes, tetanus shots, and a scrapyard in the back yard!
