Hylton now resides in Calitzdorp in the Little Karoo, South Africa. His ceramic work combines whimsy with satire and makes pointed, albeit often humorous references to his personal concerns as well as those of the world at large.

He describes himself as an artist-potter which aptly refers to his interest in form and function. His work is to be found in public and private collections around the world.
