Johann Koch

Johann Koch was born in 1948 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since early childhood he was exposed to art and painting. Holidays were spent in the African bush where he developed a passion for the fauna and flora of Africa.

For many years he resided close to his favourite painting subjects in the northern Bushveld of South Africa, recently moving to the Western Cape town of George where he has his studio. The majority of his paintings are of the Southern African countries and his travels take him to destinations such as the Okovango Delta, The Savuti and other national parks and wildlife reserves in the region.

Johann’s great strength as an artist lies in his ability to capture the ”feel’ of the bush. He has an incredible ability to to portray the African skies and landscape.

Since the late 1990’s his work has had great exposure in the United States and currently his paintings are collected and enjoyed by nature and wildlife enthusiasts worldwide.
